Game of Thrones Shooting Locations in Northern Ireland Detailed Map (Updated: May 2019)

So.. Game of Thrones is almost coming to an end. I know you may be disappointed with the development of the final season. Still, it’s one of the greatest TV series of time, and it has given us a decade long of joy and entertainment. I will never forget those nail-biting, heart-wrenching, and stomach punching TV moments. It has been a truly bittersweet journey.

Anyhow.. in this article I’ve put together a list of shooting locations of Game of Thrones in Northern Ireland, with the GPS location. I’ve spent few hours to compile the list, but hey..Valar Dohaeris!

If you the lucky one who happens to be in Northern Ireland (especially Belfast), be sure to check them out, especially number 10!

#1.Castle Ward

Located at County Down, Castle Ward is the location for Winterfell in season 1.

#2. Tollymore Forest

The Altavaddy Bridge of Tollymore Forest was where the Stark family found the direwolf pack in Season 1. The area surrounding Rustic Bridge was used to shoot scenes involving Jon Snow, White Walkers and Tyrion.

#3. The Dark Hedges

The Dark Hedges is alongside the public road. It’s Kingsroad in Episode 1, Season 2, where Arya escaped King Landing’s with Yoren. This spot is very popular among Game of Thrones fans, so be sure you go there early.

#4. Cushendun Caves

It was where the red woman gave birth to a shadow demon who later killed Renly Baratheon (season 2).

#5. Downhill Beach

Downhill Beach is the shooting location of Dragonstone. The scenery is absolutely amazing and a lot more quieter as compared to other Game of Thrones shooting location.

It’s served as the location of Riverrun of Riverlands.

#7. Ballintoy Harbour

The shooting location of Iron Island in season 2.

#8. Binevenagh
The Binevenagh Mountain was used as grassland of Dothraki in season 5.

#9. Dunluce Castle

The Dunlce Castle is the shooting location of House Greyjoy, ruler of the Iron Islands.

#10. TEC Belfast

Westeros is opened for business in Belfast for limited time only! The Game of Thrones exhibition at TEC Belfast displays costumes, props, weapons and armor of the seven kingdoms. As well, you also get to see Winterfell crypt and dragon skulls! To avoid disappointment, book your tickets from the official website early.
